Happy August! It’s the height of summer here in Hong Kong, hot, humid and occasionally stormy. I hope you’re staying cool and comfortable.

This month I wanted to talk about something we’re seeing more and more of: pre-owned and preloved luxury fashion.

Why cleaning pre-owned pieces matters

Most resellers of pre-owned fashion never clean the garments before selling them. Many pieces have been tried on multiple times, returned, or stored in less than ideal conditions. This creates a perfect environment for bacteria, mould growth, mould spores, dust, dust mites and dust mite droppings.

As cleaners, we feel it’s our responsibility to point this out. We’re receiving an increasing number of pre-owned luxury pieces for after-sales care, which is exactly what we do best.

We’ve had clients who were so excited to wear a beautiful preloved piece that they put it on straight away without sending it in first. Some then developed rashes, itchiness or felt unwell. In many cases this is linked to residual dirt from previous wearers or from storage related conditions.

Always clean before wearing

Whether it’s a Chanel jacket, a Hermès scarf or any other pre-owned or preloved piece, please always have it professionally cleaned before you wear it.

Not only is this better for your health and wellbeing, but a proper clean can also revive dull colours and refresh the fabric. Our hydrocarbon cleaning method is particularly gentle. It relaxes the fibres and can give preloved pieces a new lease of life for many years to come.

為甚麼二手衣物一定要先清洗？

大多數二手時裝賣家在出售前都不會清洗衣物。許多衣物曾被多次試穿、退貨，或存放條件欠佳。這為細菌、霉菌、霉菌孢子、灰塵、塵蟎及其排泄物創造了理想的環境。

作為專業清潔公司，我們覺得有責任指出這一點。我們收到越來越多顧客把二手奢華衣物作為售後護理，而這正是我們最擅長的工作。

穿著前請務必先清潔
